About Us

Legacy Anthropology, LLC, is a cultural resources management company situated in Bellingham Washington. Our team is composed of Susan C. Larsen, who meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Qualifications for a Professional Archaeologist, and Nicholas E. Gouette. We have a combined 15 years of experience working in archaeology and have collectively participated in over 150 cultural resources management projects throughout Washington State. In addition, we are a certified Minority/Women Business Enterprise by the Washington State Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (Certification Number M5F0027665).

Our Team

Susan C. Larsen

Professional Archaeologist
Geologist in Training

Susan was born in Coupeville and raised in Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island. She has been working in archaeology since 2012 and has since been part of over 100 cultural resource management projects in Washington State and Oregon. In 2013 she earned a Bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University in anthropology and geology, and a Master’s degree in anthropology in 2015. She specializes in geoarchaeology and shell midden analysis.

Nicholas E. Gouette

Archaeologist

Nicholas was raised in the rural Stanwood area. He graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology in 2013. He has experience in both field and laboratory archaeology, and specializes in groundstone tool manufacture and residue analysis. His professional work has focused on archaeology in Washington State, but additionally, Nicholas has experience in heavy civil construction, including work as a foreman and on project bidding.
